Waiting For "Superman"

Waiting For "Superman" is the most inspirational movie that I have seen all year. It taught me a lot about the public education system in America and I felt like I personally got to know the families documented in the film. It gives very honest insight into how life altering getting into a charter school can be for a child. The film tells the stories of three families who are trying to make a better life for their children. Children are entered into a lottery to determine if they will be placed into a charter school. The film also tells the story of former chancellor of Washington D.C. public schools, Michelle Rhee. She demonstrates what being a good leader means to me throughout the entire film. She dealt with many struggles working within the public school system but did her job well despite bumps in the road. After 3 years as chancellor she left to pursue other endeavors. Michelle then founded StudentsFirst a non-profit, tax-exempt political advocacy organization that works on education reform issues. This movie depicts the effects of bad leadership and also shows what can come from the hard work of great leaders.

Thanks & Gig'Em!
