The true leader is essentially a hero - someone who does something outstanding.

After reading this article on one of CNN's Heroes for 2011, I was completely inspired. Taryn Davis was left alone and filled with grief at the young age of 25, after the loss of her husband to a roadside bomb in Iraq. Being so young she wasn't quite sure where to go and what to do with her life. She didn't feel right being happy, yet she knew her husband Michael wouldn't have wanted her to mourn forever. Taryn found herself reaching out for strength in a support group of other women. The main problem was that the women were much older than her and their husbands hadn't died in military service. Taryn struggled to find her place until she decided to start a support group organization of her own. The American Widow Project hopes to reach out to widows of any service member as well as women who were engaged to a service member. Taryn Davis exemplifies what heroic leadership means to me. I can only imagine the courage it takes for her to run this organization in honor of her husband everyday. I pray that one day I will be able to have that kind of strength as a leader.

Thanks & Gig'Em!
